Dr.
Lightstone, a designated Consulting Acoustical Engineer, has been
active in the field of acoustics for over 35 years. Al is a member
of good standing of the PEO, Canadian Acoustical Association, Acoustical
Society of America, and IEEE. He is also the examiner in acoustics
for the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. As President of
Valcoustics Canada Ltd., he is regularly involved in the acoustical
design of buildings of all types including civic centres, studios,
theatres, schools and other institutions, hotels, office industrial
and residential uses, providing expertise relating to architectural
acoustics, noise and vibration control, sound isolation and sound
system specification. Al has gained considerable expertise with
respect to community noise studies, transportation projects, residential,
commercial and industrial development, as well as a variety of special
noise/vibration projects. As an expert witness in acoustics he has
appeared over 90 times before the Federal Court, Supreme Courts
of Ontario and British Columbia, the Ontario Municipal Board, the
Ontario Environmental Assessment Board, as well as other tribunals.
