Currently under construction, Massey Tower will feature retail, residential and non-residential components. The 20,000 square feet site contains the historically designated Canadian Bank of Commerce Building, designed by Darling & Pearson Architects in 1905 and vacant since 1987. The design completely restores the 4-storey portion of the bank and erects a 60-storey mixed-use development behind the historic landmark. Massey Tower will span the existing parkette and the lot behind the two historic bank buildings, one of which, 197 Yonge Street, will be renovated for use in the new development. VCL is providing input on the architectural acoustic design and TARION services, as well as environmental noise and vibration assessment and monitoring.
