Acoustical Design services for expansion and renovation of the Faculty of Law Building Flavelle House (78 Queen's Park). VCL is providing a full range of acoustical engineering services including architectural acoustics and noise and vibration control. Remington Centre is an entertainment and shopping centre that will be over 800,000 square feet at the corner of Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue in Markham, Ontario. The Remington Centre will be connected to Pacific Mall by an indoor walkway. Unique features include: light-filled hallways, indoor and outdoor public spaces and signature night market. It will feature a two level structure with over 800,000 ft² (74,000 m²) of retail and commercial space and two condo towers located on the southeast end. VCL is providing a acoustical design services with respect to sound isolation and mechanical noise and vibration control.
Belmont Solar 1 is a 20 MW solar farm planned for development on 448 acres (181 ha) of land located northwest of the Town of Belmont (north of 7th Avenue, south of Scotland Drive and east of Old Victoria Road). VCL completed the post-construction acoustic audit.
Tenant fit-up for RBC (approximately 17 floors) at RBC Waterpark Place. VCL is providing acoustical engineering services to assist with the Compliance team's review.
When complete, the expansion will create a 4 ½ star, 178 room hotel/conference centre, a 2,000 seat entertainment centre, and an extensive renovation to the casino itself. The 6-storey hotel will be linked to the casino by an enclosed corridor and will include amenities such as a banquet and conference centre of approximately 827 m², a business centre, a swimming pool, as well as a bar and restaurant. Renovations to the casino will include a significant expansion to the gaming facilities and the renovation of existing bars/restaurants. The entertainment centre will have a main hall of approximately 4,645 m², providing space for a wide variety of events including concerts, banquets, sports events, and trade shows. VCL completed acoustic reviews of the entertainment centre and hotel meeting rooms.
An Infrastructure Ontario Design build project of a high-performance aquatics and athletic facility. The aquatics centre will host diving, swimming, synchronized swimming and the swimming portion of the modern pentathlon competitions and have room for 6000 spectators. The aquatic centre will also include another 50 metre training pool, dive pool and a dry diving training centre. The field house will feature flexible gymnasium space for training and competition with seating capacity of approximately 2,000, as well as an indoor recreational track and fitness area. The CSIO will provide sport performance services and coaching and training facilities. VCL is providing a full range of acoustical consulting services with respect to architectural acoustics, sound isolation, environmental noise and noise and vibration control as part of the design build team.
The ErinoakKids Redevelopment project is planned for three new sites at Brampton, Halton and Mississauga. The plan identifies a proposed main facility for the Brampton site and two secondary sites in Mississauga and Halton (Oakville). The ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development is the largest of Ontario’s 20 children’s treatment centres, treating almost 13,000 children and youth with disabilities in Peel, Halton and Dufferin Regions. The redevelopment project will provide new facilities that will allow ErinoakKids to consolidate programs and services from nine existing sites to three new sites that will be purpose-built for special-needs children. The main facility will be approximately 160,000 ft² and will be located in Brampton, with the other two sites in Mississauga and Halton, each approximately 62,000 ft². VCL is part of the Infrastructure Ontario (IO) Planning Design and Compliance (PDC) team as acoustical consultants.
VCL assisted with the acoustical design of the Worship Hall and we also prepared an environmental noise study in support of the Site Plan Application to the City of Toronto.
Comprising 49,050 m², the facility will accommodate 250 articulated buses and 430 employee and visitor parking spaces. The project is being delivered through a Private Public Partnership for the Region of York, and will be pursuing LEED Silver certification. VCL is providing both architectural and environmental acoustical services.
Nue Multiplex (www.nueplex.com) is comprised of five 3-D theaters, totaling 1100 seats and home to the three largest silver screens in Pakistan. The theatres possess the first custom designed theatre acoustics in Pakistan. VCL was the acoustical consultant on record providing acoustic input on theatre design.
